Keynote and Community Discussion - Strand 4: Grassroots, Real-world Application, and Innovation

How does mindfulness fit into real life? Our changing world needs new, creative and context specific ways to offer mindfulness. In this keynote "Helping Refugees Heal, One Moment at a Time: Clinical Science with a Restorative Social Justice Mission," Amit Bernstein addresses the global mental health crisis faced by millions of refugees and asylum-seekers, highlighting the urgent need for psychological and social justice interventions. He outlines a vision for a contemplative science approach to empower displaced communities through trauma-sensitive mindfulness and compassion-based interventions, along with the development of a mobile health program designed to enhance global access and support for recovery and healing. This event is part of the International Conference on Mindfulness (ICM:2024) post-conference programme.
